The new Taser M18L/M18 is an electronic control device (ECD) for use by citizens that can stop a focused, aggressive, trained attacker in his tracks. The risk of permanent injury or death, absent the bad guy being under the influence of controlled substances, is almost non-existent.
According to statistics compiled from law enforcement agencies that employ the Taser, the success rate is over 94%. That is correct, over 94% effective. The reason that the Taser is so amazingly efficient is the state of the art Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation (NMI) technology. The common stun gun systems on the market operate in a 7-14 watt range, and only stimulate sensory neurons. An aggressive, focused attacker can overcome this. NMI technology in the M18L/M18 uses an 18 watt system, and directly stimulates motor nerve tissue, temporarily debilitating the strongest individuals. The loss of neuromuscular control and inability to perform coordinated actions incapacitates the attacker regardless of their training, mental state, size, strength, or drug use. The human body cannot store electricity, so recovery occurs as soon as the electrical impulses from the Taser stop.
Typical stun guns also require the victim to be within their arms length of their attacker. The Taser may be used in that same manner, with or withoutt a Taser Air Cartridge loaded, which is referred to as a “drive stun”. Nobody needs to let an aggressor get that close. The Taser M18L/M18 has a range of 15 feet. The probes fired from the Taser are attached by 15 foot long insulated wires that carry the electrical impulse. The probes have a metal point with a small barb that hooks into the skin or clothing. The pulse penetrates through up to 2 inches of clothing, sending the incapacitating energy into your attacker.
These electrical impulses sent from the Taser into the bad guy attacking you takes control away from, and gives control to you.
Taser uses a unique tracking system known as AFID’s (Anti-Felon Identification) to insure lawful, self-defense-only use.
